As you can see, I have to be in Naples on June 4 and Helsinki on June 10. It's kind of a waste to fly back to Japan and turn around and fly back to Europe again. Is there anything interesting going on, or can we make something interesting happen in Europe between June 4 and June 10? I've started a wiki page to think about what to do between the 4th and the 10th. If you have any ideas, let me know. Thanks!

You could go to Normandy for the D-Day celebrations. It's the 60th anniversery so I'm sure something interesting will be going on there.

It could be very crowded in Normandy on the 60th anniversary of D-Day so if you go there, be prepared to find accommodation at the fringes of the area. There are some very creative graduate shows in art and multimedia running throughout Ireland in early June. Should you drop into Dublin, we can take you around.

Come to Amsterdam instead. There are a lot of interesting things going on here. It's also very easy to fly in and out of. Contact me if you are coming over.

Go to Amsterdam, Joi. I'll hook you up with a bunch of people. Heck, you could drop by my parents and say hi.

You absolutely have to be at ConCon UK

Sunday 6th June, London, UK

I wish I had your problems!!
I suggest that you do an intensive tour of Berlin. Architecture by day, and nightlife by, um, night.

Take a relaxing break in North Wales.

Take a few books from the stack of books you've been intending
to read but never found the time to do so, and disappear for
a few days off the face of the Earth :-)
Become a Ernest Hemingway, rent a small room in a Mediterranean
city, cook your own meals and spend time reading. The challenge
will be to find a quiet room for rent somewhere in Europe with
WiFi access.
Drastically limit the number of hours you're on-line and connected,
receptive to, and captive of the World's vagaries. Instead, spend
time to explore the static and carefully constructed narratives
captured in dead tree format.

(I'd also bring along an iPod, a GPRS phone and a Powerbook ;-)

Hi Joi,
There's always www.notcon04.com happening in London on June 6th. There'll be a variety of politics & blogging panels with the Doctorows, Coates and O'Briens of this world. I'm one of the organisers, so drop us a line if you're around.

Tom

Doesn't Euro2004 kick off in Portugal around then? Even if you weren't a football fan you could go down and hang out with the hooligans.

NotCon NotCon NotCon!!! Not that I have a vested interest in hoping people turn up to something I've allegedly helped to organise... http://www.notcon04.com/

Finding a quiet place to read sounds good. Perhaps this would be fun too: Go to Solms (near Frankfurt) in Germany, visit the Leica factory for a tour (they do such tours), take a Leica Acadamy on something and then buy a decent digital camera in their factory store.
And then go read and photograph in Wales of some distant place (Oslo, Iceland, Skagen Denmark).

Interesting suggestions, everybody!

Spend a week in Emilia-Romagna.

Eat heavenly pasta at Trattoria Gianni in Bologna.

Munch on heavenly cheeses.

Drink wine.

Visit the Pagani factory in San Cesario, and then pop over to the Lambo museum in Sant-agata Bolognese.

And... don't miss the Ducati museum in Bologna.

yes, come to amsterdam. etoy would be pleased to spend with you some time on our daycare 2.0 project. it's on till the 6th. of june.

Perhaps you might consider not doing anything.

Many people with busy lives never seem to find the time to relax and reflect on things.

To simply let things settle in one's mind and not add to concerns, is a good way to focus.

You might find yourself refreshed and unstressed before resuming your hectic life of travel.

If you stay in Naples, why not drop in at Italian resort, Such as Capri, Amarfi, and Sorento?
It takes just few hours from Naples.

I stayed Sorento and Capri on summer vacation last year and enjoyed very much. Grotta Azuro (Blue Cave) in Capri is very, very splendid!

I think I'm going to go to the UK on the 6-9th or something... Seems like there are lots of people there I want to see... ;-)

hi ITO san Go have fun at my villa in NICE(south of france) for two days if you want

Meeting you again would be nice. We didn't have nearly enough time at the Creative Commons dinner in Helsinki with the Nokia guys.

When you're in Helsinki, take the 45min jet-ferry to Tallinn, Estonia, my pick for the most beautiful city I saw when I campervanned around the Baltic Sea. If you have time to overnight rather than just a daytrip, try to get a home apartment rather than a hotel-- I stayed next to the church at the top of the Old Town in a 300 year old building with 3foot thick walls. Let me know if you need some phone numbers/eddresses for them.
