Warning to conservative readers: partisan thoughts below

I don't think I'm going to have the fortitude to watch the Republican Convention. I know that makes me a small person, but I just can't take it.
I'm getting some blow-by-blow commentary from Mitch via IM right now and I can understand David's feelings.
Mitch on IM
Mitch: sorry, distracted by the glaring whiteness of the RNconvention. no people with any color while Rudy talks
Mitch: pretty wretched talk -- it is ugly in several dimensions, suggesting anyone who disagrees with Bush is an appeaser
Mitch: he literally just said "either you are with us or with the terrorists"
Mitch: and followed by comparing Bush to Churchill
Mitch: Rudy is sure he's Churchillian
Regarding David's post, Mitch says, "too many years as a reporter -- I can watch anything."

glaring whiteness? can't stand to watch? How refreshing it is to read the ignorance of the self-professed "open-minded" crowd.

Agreed. All this right wing bashing on this site is getting tiresome.

I didn't watch the DNC and I'm probably not going to watch the RNC either. I'm interested in policy. Both the national conventions are more pep rallies than they are anything else. The debates, when they happen, those I'll watch. I don't want to hear, "I'll bring jobs back to America!" I want to hear how you PLAN to bring jobs back to America.

Regarding the whiteness of the RNC. I think it's funny, Democrats and Liberals more generally demonize the Republican party regularly to minorities and now here it is posted about the whiteness of the RNC. If a Republican president puts minorities into his cabinet either the minorities are "Uncle Toms" or the president is just pandering to those same monoritites or both. But if a Democrat does it's somehow assumed to be altruistic. It seems like a damned if you do damned if you don't prop for the Republicans.

It never ceases to amaze me that otherwise intelligent people can be blinded in certain areas and either refuse or can't look at things in certain areas intelligently (disclaimer: I'm sure I'm guilty as well it's just easier to see in other people)

Agreed, Clinton and Kerry didn't have minorities in their cabinets or campaigns.

Where are all the minority protesters? I'm a minority myself (Asian-American) so I'm tired of this crud about Repubs being all white.
