Yes, this is not a fake. As of right now, November 3rd, 2004, 21:23 PST this is the frontpage. My world just got a little brighter. Pizza, Canadian beer, and watching "Strange Brew" contribute, too.

The name of the image file is asshole.jpg. Nice catch Jonas.

UPDATE Sean blogs that The Register ripped off the article without giving credit to Jonas. Schmucks.

UPDATE2 Now WorldNetDaily is writing as if they found it.

UPDATE3 derStandard.at has also just ripped off the images without attribution.

UPDATE4 Jonas had an attribution-ShareAlike license on his blog...

Bleh. Missed it.

Gone again

Seriously, typical liberal behavior.

Repubs have plenty of sense of humor. However, we aren't so childish and act like wanker sore losers.

This is the exact mentality that makes a Liberal a Liberal. Mental fraility and the idea that Liberals know more than the rest of the unwashed masses.

Liberals are the biggest hypocritical jackasses I know. On the one hand they cry and scream for "the will of the people" and for direct Democracy. Yet when the people actually speak (in this election President Bush one a majority of the popular vote) they then say how stupid the populace is!

The sad thing is that Liberalism can only exist as a parasite amongst the host of Conservatism. Why? Because Liberalism is a self destructing philosophy or mental illness depending on how you view it.

In days of old, you never heard of a Liberal community. Why? Because as soon as the Saracens, Tatars or Visgoths rolled through their little Liberal village and finished hacking up all the children, raping the women and enslaving the men the village vanished. All of the Liberal villages Kumbayah chants around the fireside and prayer vigils to "repel the Tatars" did squat to save them.

It was in effect a thinning of the herd and Liberals were extinct (if they ever existed in the past).

Unfortunately, the mental fraility and sickness of the Liberal drags the rest of society down like an infectitious disease such as AIDS. Liberals don't kill you outright but they destroy a societies defense system and cellular integrity leaving openings for opportunitistic infectious diseases like Al Qaeda or mass immigration of turd-worlders who bring nothing by empty heads (often are illiterate in their own languages), hungry stomachs and Leftist mentalities. Owe and quite often Turd world diseases - Hepatitis B and TB.

Please, keep gloating Travis. Go ahead, encourage all of your Conservative friends to come out of the woodwork. Many are hoping that you will take that poison pill.

Travis you've been busy casting stones. I assume you are including liberal Canada in your little tirade. the "dirty commie" slur for 2004. nice one.

I'll never by sorry for supporting Kerry. It was the right, good and sane thing to do. The moral majority have just put the most immoral administration in the white house. And we know why it's called the white house don't we?

but no... poverty is good for America's moral fibre. It helps keep women in their place. and the less educated and poor people, the less options they have the more volunteers there will be for George's army (all sarcasm intended.)

with love from a Canadian not too happy about the 100,000 civilians and 1, 000 soldiers sacrificed for a war fabricated by corrupt administration that profits off of said war. nor too happy about seeing people manipulated, and their good will and faith being abused and twisted and used against themselves.

the first thought that came into my head this morning "God forgive the American people for what they have done, for they know not what they do."

Yes, but we liberal jackasses know the difference between "one" vs. "one", and "owe" vs. "oh".

PS: If you think that a concern for fellow humans worldwide tears bigger holes in society than an inability to separate god from science, then you need to go study some more history.

*blink*

Man, it must suck to have all your neurons misfire at once like that.

Can't wait until 2006.

All Republicans are to be reincarnated as Nike sweatshop workers in Indonesia. It's been prophecised.

Bush is still an asshole. way to go all of you dipshits who voted for Bush. You'll live to regret it!

Oops. Pardon me. That should have read "won" vs. "one". You can go and continue your right-wing homophobic god-fearing tirade any time now.

"The sad thing is that Liberalism can only exist as a parasite amongst the host of Conservatism. Why? Because Liberalism is a self destructing philosophy or mental illness depending on how you view it."

Good Lord. These "conservatives" must think political theory begins and ends with Michael Savage.

Webmaster of websiet "Joi Ito's Web" is idiot and son of a bitch! He is posting podcasts generated by text to speech program because he is too stupid to speak himself. Stop you idiot!

Nice words. Excuse me for my ugly english, but in fact I'm... French. (sorry) Here we're 70-80% to support Kerry, I suppose you know why.

For example, we've got 2 journalists in Irak, threatened of death by Zarqaoui; if Bush hadn't sent troops in Irak they would be quietly at home (your soldiers too...) That isn't all. Bush ordered a massive attack on Falloudjah when our ostages were to be sent back home, so the negociations were closed for a while. This is only an example of how we can hate Mr Bush.

Democrats, my friends, this isn't the end of the world. You've been living for 4 years with this guy, you can endure the next 4 years. It nearly happened the same in France, 2 years ago. We've got a 2-round election system, and a right-winged extremist was at the 2nd round vs Chirac. This guy said, among other puky things, that the camps (you know, the nazi camps) were a "detail". We were ashamed of this vision we offered to the world. Of course, it wasn't so worse because he wasn't elected (Chirac collected 82% of the voices). But I can ensure you that you'll show to the world that you're still noble while defeated by accepting this defeat. This is your best chance to win next time.

So, friends, I hope you've read until here... The entire world is massively with you, even if the leaders politely congratule the fucking "W"... Hail to JFK, his campaign was heroic!

PS: The jpeg doesn't exist anymore... But try sending bretzels to the asshole!

Travis, take a look at the electoral map and then tell me who the parasites are. The blue states are the technological, industrial, agricultural and cultural centers of this country. The red states survive off of federal welfare (kudos atrios) from the blue. We develop your software, cure your diseases, create your entertainment, and grow your food. Without us, this country would be economically worse off than the third world you hate so badly.

This is the exact mentality that makes a Conservative a Conservative. Mental fraility and the idea that Conservatives know more than the rest of the unwashed masses.

All of the Conservative villages' war chants around the fireside and prayer vigils to "repel the Arabs" did kill a lot of them.

It was in effect a thinning of the herd and Conservatives were stronger (if they ever were weak in the past).

Unfortunately, the mental fraility and sickness of the Conservative drags the rest of society down like an infectitious disease such as AIDS. Reggie,

Nice try, but look at it county by county (if you can manage to find the LA Times). What you'll see is tiny pockets of Kerry voters stacked up in LA, Boston, Seattle, New York, Chicago, surrounded in your "blue" states by people who voted for Bush. My software is developed worldwide OUTSIDE the US (e.g., Calgary). My food is grown all over, especially in those counties of California which on those maps which are coloured RED. And my entertainment isn't Mickey Eisner's distopia, so don't delude yourself.

We'll see how you Republications will find it funny once Bush and his Neo-Cons introduce the draft and it's YOUR children in boot camp and then given a gun and pointed towards the middle east, namely Iraq and Iran.

The religion os Socialism was knocked to the mat this week in the United States of America.

The battle to rid the world of every other mysticism is now underway.

Holy Crappanoli! and I thought I was nuts! The posters on this blog all should stop exaggerating, both on the right and the left.

We conservatives aren't gloating. We are oiling our guns and sharpening our bayonettes and then we are going to run all you Liberals out of this country once and for all.

Mike B,

We conservatives aren't gloating. We are oiling our guns and sharpening our bayonettes and then we are going to run all you Liberals out of this country once and for all. Actually, I'd rather like to see a Pale of Settlement established for all Libs in America much like Czar Elizabeth II established in Russia.

Lastly, one of the main things you Libs don't understand is that we Conservatives ARE THE MAJORITY! You see 20,000 filthy Libs protesting President Bush or bashing this country and think, "Wow, what a huge rally!" What you don't see is that there are 10 times that amount of Conservatives who are busy working to feed themselves, their families and 5 liberals bums. Conservatives don't protest - we vote dumbass! And we voted to through you bums out of the senate, the white house and next out of our country.

But thankfully Travis while this administration may be corrupt and inept (and this too shall pass) most conservatives, liberals and democrats are not quite as ignorant as you. Especially the ones that consider themselves to be Christian.

smart democrats welcome to visit/stay in Canada. (you won't need guns here.)

http://civicspacelabs.org/node/view/1210

nevertheless, he's still an asshole

Bush is a conservative? Try reactionary. Being born with a silver spoon up your ass isn't conducive to conserving anything. Wasted the budget surplus, wasted the good will of the international community, wasted the threat of force on the most contained member of the axis of evil.

You think this madman is on the side of the common people? Bush stands for the corporations. They will put trashy blasphemous crap on tv and blame it on the left. They will put on fascist propaganda and use it to define the right. Divide and conquer. On your death bed you can regret how the gap between rich and poor engulfed your children. Bush will speed up the process much more than Kerry. I hope your god guns and gays was worth it.

ehehhe.. what a humor :D :D

Travis should give up now. He's becoming ridiculous.

all this sturm and drang signifying nothing. in the end, bush won and kerry lost. kerry lost big considering how close it was in 2004!

better luck in 2008!

hey, who knows, maybe dubya was serious about being bipartisan...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Oh yes, Travis, because saying you would like to shoot and impail people is exactly the kind of "moral values" you cling to, right? So please, gloat on. But you may want to conserve your energy a little, since we will expect you and your ilk to shovel the shit in four years when the country is bankrupt, only has Putin the Undemocratic as an ally, and is burying our drafted kids being sent back from profiteering wars by the score. White house in your hands, House in your hands, Senate in your hands- golly, Travis, it'll be awfully clear who is to blame.

"We are oiling our guns and sharpening our bayonettes and then we are going to run all you Liberals out of this country once and for all."

"Oiling our guns." "Sharpening our bayonettes." Could this loser be using imagery that is any more phallic?? Another latent homosexual Republican. The country's full of them. It's OK, honey, let it out. There's always the Log Cabin.

netscape is responsible for those pages and link to CNN. As are the file links. If this was on CNN.com it would be different. Need to learn the difference between the two pages (aol and cnn)

Don't be surprised if Bush is impeached within two years. The moral majority voted in the most immoral administration.

http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2004/11/04/NewNorthAmerica

Another post election map. It could see it working, but the bit about the ten commandments I'd want to qualify. Beyond being inept, millions of well informed people voted against this administration because they had been blantantly breaking some of the biggies top ten.

The truth is Karl Rove did his job early on so people were ready to believe the lies and rhetoric. Bush played at being "everyman" for the republicans, while Kerry a wise man with a good heart was fighting for everyman and everywoman. A great opportunity was lost. He could have been one of the greatest presidents the free world has known.

most voters were led by the nose like lambs to the slaughter, and the mainstream media let them down. (so netscape employee i can't think of a better reason to feel good about being fired. good for you.) A few more cogs and wheels in the machine need to speak up and get the truth out.

Lets not forget what some pretty smart people had to say, and why.

The New York Observer today endorsed John Kerry, in an editorial with one of the better summaries of why Americans should vote for John Kerry on November 2:

“John Kerry understands that disorder is dangerous in this world, that intelligence and rationality are the right partners to passion, resolve and principle. As he showed in his three focused and well-prepared debate performances with President Bush, he is a man of intensity and rationality, whose 30 years in public life have prepared him to restore America’s fundamental understanding of what it takes to be the “last, best hope on earth.” A soldier of freedom, an American idealist, a public man with a tested private soul, he seems to understand that leadership in a democracy entails eliciting the better angels of our nature, and that greatness begins with goodness and surmounts in strength.”

http://blog.johnkerry.com/blog/archives/003742.html#003742

Salon’s Eric Boehlert noted recently that Kerry’s endorsement lead is the exception rather than the norm for Democratic candidates:

“As the mountain of newspaper endorsements pile up in favor of Sen. John Kerry, including dozens from dailies that backed Bush in 2000, the Bush/Cheney campaign is dismissing the trend as no big deal. ‘Look, the Republican candidate will never win the contest for editorial board endorsements. The major dailies across the country tend to skew liberal,’ RNC chairman Ed Gillespie told CNN last week. That spin comes straight out of the GOP handbook that insists the mainstream press tilts to the left, so of course newspapers love Democrats come Election Day.

“Only problem is, it’s not accurate. In fact, the complete opposite is true. Since 1940 when industry trade magazine Editor & Publisher began tracking newspapers during presidential elections, only two Democratic candidates – Lyndon Johnson in 1964 and Bill Clinton in 1992 – have ever won more endorsements than their Republican opponent.”

I encourage you to visit the John Kerry website and blog to read reasons for the general endorsements

http://blog.johnkerry.com/blog/archives/categories/endorsements/index.html

and press endorsements

http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/press_endorsements.html

from Republicans and Democrats alike."

Travis must be getting ready for his man date. Shouldn't someone report him for sedition (you know, fomenting Civil War)?

There will likely be thousands more abortions, not less under Bush... yet again.

http://www.sojo.net/index.cfm?action=sojomail.display%20&issue=041013#5

and let's not forget that not only are soldiers dying, but the Iraqi civilian death count increases with each passing day:

New study puts civilian deaths in Iraq at 100,000 An estimated 100,000 civilians have died in Iraq as a direct or indirect consequence of last year’s US-led invasion, according to a new study by a research team at the Bloom-berg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. "

and these are the moral grounds? this is freedom?

no this is the result of lies and deception. this is greed.

I wish this was just another conspiracy theory. But there is too much evidence from credible sources... as fast as this administration has sought to discredit every voice and person and group who has tried to sound the alarm. but the truth will prevail...

It's easier to be in denial, after the trauma of 9/11.. but New Yorkers were ready to face the truth when they voted for Kerry. Many voters may not have done their homework, and fallen for the rhetoric but the information was there for everyone to see.

Credible sources include:

"Canada’s premier investigative documentary and news program The Fifth Estate has produced a must-see documentary and companion website called The Unauthorized Biography of Dick Cheney.

“a two-hour documentary about the inner workings of the Bush administration that will alarm even the most hardened Washington-watchers. Both fans and critics of the acclaimed Fahrenheit 9/11 will want to see this investigation of the U.S. administration.” Some choice quotes:

* “This administration has chosen to use the propaganda tools of Hitler, Goering, and Goebbels” — Robert Steele, CIA Covert Operations
* “It is starting to look like a third world republic – a banana republic that is.” — Robert Baer, CIA Covert operations
* “No administration ever allowed herself a single tenth of what has occurred under George W. Bush. None.” - Los Angeles Times.
* “This administration is behaving like pigs at a trough.” - Joseph Trento, historian.

Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels said, “The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed.” He also wrote, “The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly… it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.”

Does this sound familiar? All you have to do was listen to the way Bush reacted to Kerry in debates. In the face of reason, Bush kept repeating the same simplistic catch phrases which made no sense if you were listening with two ears and a brain.

Perhaps what Goebbels said it more true than ever in an age when quick sound-bites are caught, taken out of context, and served up to the public with their TV dinner. Trying to make sense of what I was seeing, I’m half ashamed to admit that I had the very same thoughts as Norman Mailer in the opening of “The World According to Bush". It is shameful to see how this administration has cloaked itself under the name of faith, and in the guise of a government-induced “terror” used the Americans’ goodwill and true faith against themselves. But God is God, not Bush, not Cheney. To question people in power is not anti-patriotic, especially while the stink of hypocrisy grows stronger."

my first red flag with regards to Cheney? How could anyone trust a man who wouldn't vote for Martin Luther King day, or to free Nelson Mandela (the man who also said Bush "can not think clearly")

Cheney may be evil... Bush is just inept. a puppet. maybe there is a chance that if he pays attention to the reason for people's rage things can be different. but i doubt it.

Will Bush be impeached. I'm pretty sure Martha Stewart is one of millions wondering why on earth not.

"Without a Doubt By Ron Suskind The New York Times

Saturday 17 October 2004

Bruce Bartlett, a domestic policy adviser to Ronald Reagan and a treasury official for the first President Bush, told me recently that "if Bush wins, there will be a civil war in the Republican Party starting on Nov. 3. "

I have to believe in people's better nature.. that they were misled and ill informed. If not the moral majority are immoral. and that can't be right, can it?

A post from the Kerry/Edward blog

"Bin Laden himself is Orwellian.

In"1984", there was this character called "Goldberg" who was simply an everpresent photo of a bearded guy, the "bad guy" that everyone had to be afraid of.

And the government was keeping them safe from this imaginary bad guy. And everyone was grateful for their safety because it was only the regime that was keeping them safe.

We have our own bearded bogie man. He may be real, but it's used the same way. Fascism. Domination of the masses.
Posted by delphine at October 30, 2004 05:37 PM"

Funnily enough, every time I heard Bush speak and twist (or rather heard his speech writer) twist Kerry's words and and distort the truth I was reminded more and more of Animal Farm:

The 7 Commandments are abridged for the last time, simply reading, "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others."

But don't stop Travis... we're listening. and the world keeps watching.

http://www.electoral-vote.com/info/articles-books.html

I ran across this blog by accident at work, while looking something up. Unfortunately, I read it. Reading all this drivel from both extremes, I come to the conclusion that there are a lot of rich people with way too much time on their hands. Get a life.

Here is an idea that might be totally crazy but might be totally brillian too. Would it be possible to start up a Blogger Defense Fund? The entire purpose would be to protect our content and enforce our licences, whatever they might be, and defend bloggers who come under legal threat for whatever reason (i.e. DMCA etc.) Right now there is little recourse for Jonas unless he wants to pay for a lawyer himself. This might be a great way for the community to develop it's own protection system.

I mean, anything that is called brillian must be brilliant, right?

Grant, I think in this case the media could argue it was fair use. I don't think there is a legal case against them. It is just clear from the license that Jonas wanted attribution and it is "unethical" for them not to give him credit. The Register regularly names names in negative connotations so it is particularly sick to see them not refer to people by name when they steal ideas.

Oh, I realize that, this post of yours just got me thinking. In the past there have been cases of plagiarism that wouldn't fall under fair use. This might not be one of those cases, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there.

And I think more importantly, bloggers have been attacked with take-down notices for things they have written and posted. Currently they have little recourse when things like that happen to them.

It was just an idea I had, but I figure I might as well try and defend it.

It's not a bad idea, but I'd like to pick who gets to use the fund. A few bloggers with no judgement could quickly use up all the money. ;-)

Oh sure, but you figure the ACLU doesn't take any case. I'm thinking of a whole organization dedicated to protecting the rights of citizen journalists. Get some corporate members like Google and SixApart, partner up with CC, get you and Larry and other like minded people on the board. Get bloggers to donate and provide member buttons for their site. And get a cadre of lawyers to go out and defend bloggers who want it and need it.

"I ran across this blog by accident at work, while looking something up. Unfortunately, I read it. Reading all this drivel from both extremes, I come to the conclusion that there are a lot of rich people with way too much time on their hands. Get a life."

Pete, with a very young baby, neither my husband or I have have time nor money right now. But i don't like to see injustice done. I don't like to see people manipulated. Like many others who have read the writing on the wall I care enough to try to get the the truth out while a mainstream media has let the people down for the most part. if you can download one or both of these documentaries, and have time to watch you too can be informed. i'm not sure how any American could afford not to be right now.

but if not, and you don't have time to read the papers or the books, here's the abridged version in a nutshell:

"Why did you elect Bush again? What on earth were you thinking? Are you nuts? !!!"

hey!

hm... maybe the "derstandard.at" has changed, now there is a contribution to jonas. :) and maybe they do it that way, because the've done themselves such things with the bush-alike austrian chancellor wolfgang schüssel.

greetings.
