Cook's Illustrated is by far my favorite recipe database with their extremely extensive and geeky/scientific approach to cooking. O'Reilly has now launched Gastronomy for Geeks. It's like a competition of cooks trying to be geeks and geeks trying to be cooks. Which reminds me... I need to go cook some lunch.

If you don't know already about Alton Brown, he's has a show called Good Eats that is the hacker's guide to cooking.

His book, I'm Just Here for the Food: Food + Heat = Cooking
is wonderful and a must-have for a geek cook.

He even has a blog: http://www.altonbrown.com/pages/rants.html

nope! this is the ultimate geek food witnessed first hand of this Finnish programming guru at Nokia - consuming 1 pint of BanoffeePie Ice Cream Milshake with peanutbutter (crunchy no less!), marshmellows, and strawberry jam mixed and drunk from a blender!

He said it kept him going! Hmmmm and he is 325lbs - wonder why?

how very apt to my post earlier - over at today's online edition of The Guardian - maybe Finnish programmers are not being reached by the Finnish Gov't!!!

I'm a huge Cooks Illustrated fan, too. Next geeky science/cooking read for me is: On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen, by Harold McGee (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/002-9892890-2434410). You might be interested in checking it out, too.
