I've created a torrent using the Trackerless Auto setting on BitTorrent. It's a 37MB movie of my Roomba having some trouble with cliff detection and my dogs having trouble with the Roomba. It's probably not worth downloading, but if you feel like testing trackerless torrents, give it a try.

UPDATE: I've updated the torrent with the new version of the trackerless client. Can you give it a try?

UPDATE 2: I didn't have port forwarding on. I've turned it on now so it might work. However, I'll be on the road again in a few hours...

"0 seeds in 0 peers" is what I get. I tried trackerless torrents myself, but it seems you need to have one client running as a "seed" that already has the file. Your server is not a client, I think. I verified this by emailing the guy who wrote the mac client for BitTorrent and he confirmed it.

It's not working for me either.

Sorry. I am on the road and not seeding. Should probably not use my laptop for this.

Well, the trackerless network works at least, since I can connect to other peers (only one other than me currently), but it is not downloading since only Joi with his laptop has the file.

Bittorrent is an excellent piece of technology that works great for files that are downloaded by many users. However, it's a bit annoying to make it work like a webserver, where you just put up files and let them be served.

Does not work for me "0 seeds in 0 peers".

Strange. I must be doing something wrong. I've been seeding all night...

A new beta release of the trackerless stuff came out on Tuesday the 7th, you might want to try again as it's working much better now. However, it is true that you must be seeding it somewhere. Hosting services are now popping up to do that for you.

I tried downloading the file for a couple hours but it didn't work. Now I'm seeding with the file you sent me and will be all night.

make sure you all have the beta version of BitTorrent supporting trackerless .. it ain't backwards compatible..

Hi Jo,

I always got this error message "This is not a valid torrent file. (bad metainfo - no announce URL string)" maybe I did something wrong while installing BiTorrent ?

When you make a Trackerless Torrent file, instead of specifying a tracker, you should specify a know NODE ( e.g. router.bittorrent.com:6881 ) in the trackerless system so that your torrent has a place to start making it's self known. If you don't do this, it may not work.

Is anyone seeding this still?

An official trackerless test torrent would be a nice to have & google seems fond of this post.
