Required Planning
-
How do the date/times of the
participant sessions get determined? We need to fix the date/time for
JeannieAndJibot Response from jonl - O'Reilly assigns the participant sessions to slots. Gina or Vee can tell you when the JeannieAndJibot session will be, if they've figured it out. "Followup from Tantek" - I would like to attend the
JeannieAndJibot session and therefore want to make sure the
RealWorldSemantics session doesn't conflict. How do we communicate such conflict avoidance preferences to the O'Reilly folks?
-
Response from Gina Rael's original plan was for (lots of) people to list the participant sessions they wanted to do on the wiki *before ETech*, and then Rael was going to assign slots right before ETech. Rael was going to deal with conflict avoidance preferences, etc. But it didn't turn out that way -- not many people got on the wiki before ETech to list their participant sessions, though a few did. So the plan is now that we'll put up a big sheet of paper onsite at ETech, and people will sign up there for a particular slot. This latter method seemed to work pretty well at FOO camp, and we're hoping it will work well here too.
Ideas for plans
-
Get together at a local restaurant or bar after the digital democracy teach-in on the 9th. Just find some place we can all get together, hang out and chat. (Unless of course the
JeannieAndJibot end up being at that time.) Note from jonl - We have participant sessions scheduled 9pm-11pm related to the 'emergent democracy' meme - specifically re. the Dean campaign's use of software. Might be cool to stay close and attend those, if you're interested in that sort of thing.
-
Michael Pusateri (aka Argyle) & Sean Bonner (aka SeanBonner) are driving down Sunday (Feb 8th) afternoon from LA. We are probably going to meet up with James McMurry (aka mcunixjr) and Ernie Svenson (aka Ernie the Attorney) in the early evening and wander about looking for food, coffee, and wifi. None of us know San Diego, so suggestions are welcome. Leave info here or email michael@cruftbox.com
-
Can people join you if they are already there on Sunday night?
-
Please do - email us
-
I've (Chris Heathcote) thrown together a collaborative location-based travel guide for San Diego - html version at: http://www.undergroundlondon.com/gaslamp/gaslamphtml.cgi , WAP/mobile version at http://www.undergroundlondon.com/gaslamp/gaslamp.cgi
Party time at Etech
-
I've got Laszlo System to co-sponsor a party at Etech for Tues or Weds. night. I'm thinking Winnebago in a parking lot. Anyone know of any other potential sponsors? Shouldn't be much. Contact Marc Canter at: marc@broadbandmechanics.com
-
It would be nice if it's Tuesday night, some people seem to be leaving Wednesday.
-
Party update - still no home. How 'bout a local dive bar? Drinks on Laszlo (up to a point! Then we get Loic to buy!)
-
StarBar is off the east side of the horton mall. It is the best dive down here. Cheap drinks and nice atmosphere. There are drinks from 6-7 PM at the apple extreme room, then after that say 7:30 - _, drinks at STAR BAR!!! Sound good?
Coordination
-
Is #etech on irc.freenode.net the agreed electronic space to coordinate?
-
seems like people are using it.
