I'll try to be of help to people coming to Japan. Please ask questions here and include details of your trip. Maybe if enough people are in Japan, we can have some parties. Not sure how this is going to turn out yet, but please start by posting the dates you might come to Japan. -- JoiIto

Hello! I am arriving at 4:20pm on June 26th. As of today (17th) I have nothing booked and no fixed itinerary yet, though am working on it.
-
On the 5th I will be in Tokyo for the
Moblog Conference. I have a rail pass and will probably do some traveling before then.
-
Karl speaks of the
Hotel Arietta in Gotanda and it looks like I will be staying there my first 2 nights (not confirmed)

I am looking for anyone to hang out with here and there during my stay. Show me your world for a few hours! Let's have a meal/drink/chat...

Domo arigato gozaimasu!
Pete - I'm coming out for the
Moblogging Conference too; from the 3rd July to the 7th July. It's a short trip so I want to cram as much in as I can during this time! Some friends have sent me info about good places to go and stuff to do and I'm more than happy to pass this on to anyone who wants it... Just send me an
email.
Some good blogs to help with info and planning:
Anti-Pixel; a view of Japan from an Australian Ex-Pat
Jeansnow.net - A very nice blog with loads of info about the unique places in Tokyo
Other good sites:
Lonely Planet Guide to Tokyo
Metro Map
Metropolis Tokyo
MediaTimker
There are some things that I really want to make sure I fit in; such as an Onsen; a gadget shopping trip (or course!) and some really good Japanese food... Blogging all the time of course

Take the Narita Friendly Limousine (bus) when you arrive at the airport and want to get into the town. don't take the narita express (train...it's expenive and you'll get to see nothing except the boring suburbs of Chiba)! the bus will stop in Shinjuku and the ride towards the city is breathtaking...especially in the morninglight when the sunrays touch the skyscrapers so beautifully....
visit hello kitty land (called "puroland"). it's weird! somewhere in Tama-city I think... you should also see the crazy market at Asakusa and the haunted old amusment park there (Hanayashiki). there are also some swimming pools on the roofs of some skyscraper in Shinjuku... relaxing! and don't forget to go karaoke singing in Shibuya! i liked the district of Shimokitazawa best. friendly people, kind of tradintional, alternative scene.. if you need a break from the Shibuya/Harajuku-overkill it's the best. fishmarket, rainbow-bridge, ueno-park, meji-junguumae, emperors palace, ginza, kabuki theatre, tokyo tower...
good hiphop acts are at club Milk (miruku) in Ebisu during my time there... maybe that has changed? lounge music is at club Fai (Aoyama-Omotesandoo). House in club Yellow (Mishuku crossing...do i remember correctly???) or club Asia (Shibuya) and Liquid Room (Shinjuku).
