Doc Searls Weblogより～カルフォルニア大学サンタバーバラ大学の長谷川教授による第二次世界大戦時のアメリカの原爆投下理由に対する新説が紹介されています。歴史の通説によると日本は広島と長崎への原爆投下を受けて全面降伏へと至ったとなっているものの、一方で原爆投下はアメリカにとってのソ連への威嚇の意味で実験的に利用されたという修正派の意見が今までありました。

今回紹介されているロシア・ソ連専門家の長谷川教授によると、今までの見解は「アメリカ的な史観である」とし、実は太平洋の紛争に最終的な終焉をもたらしたのはソ連指導者スターリンの日本に対する最後通牒であったと述べています。

mobloggingにかんするリソースをちょっと整理してみました。まだドラフトですのでぜひみなさんフィードバックをください。

「moblog* =mobile + weblog」に関してのリソースをまとめてみました。ウェブ上に現在同時進行形で進んでいる動きですが僕が分かる範囲で「moblog」について、それからどうやったらmoblog」ができるかをオンライン上に整理してみました。決して完璧なものではまだないので、是非皆さんのフィードバックがもらえたら嬉しいです。いただいたフィードバックはその都度反映させていきますね。

Microsoft Buying Macromedia?

A rumor is flying that Microsoft may buy Macromedia. If this is true -- here's a story from ComputerWire -- it will be a disaster for what's left of the software business.

Macromedia is one of the only serious independent software companies around. It has been a real innovator, and its cross-platform (Windows and Mac, anyway) products are widely used and praised. To see it swallowed by the monopoly would be disheartening on all kinds of grounds, but if ComputerWire's theory (a tactic to kill enterprise Java by owning Flash) is correct, such a deal would be flagrantly anticompetitive.

Actually, there's no pro-competitive spin whatsoever to put on a buyout like this. Not that the antitrust authorities in Washington would care -- they've made it clear that they are in favor of Microsoft's monopoly and whatever that produces in the so-called marketplace.

I hope this isn't true.

Warning

This is a first attempt -- there are some things missing, but someone w/appropriate UNIX experience should be able to succeed in installation and configuration. I may update the instructions as I get feedback.

Prerequisites

The ability to read English and follow simple instructions.

A host connected to the Internet which can receive email [1] and:

Python >= 2.2.2
MT
enabled w/ the XML-RPC interface
a blog (determine your blog id)
a blog user, the associated password [2]

Please note that this code was designed to run on the host which the blog itself is running on. Other configurations may be possible, but I don't recommend them and don't plan on supporting them at the moment.

YahooはGoogleの投資家なのに、アイディアを盗んだりしてあまりサポートをしていなかったという噂と聞いたことがあります。（まちがってたら教えて下さい。修正します。）でもGoogle Newsを作った時皆びっくりしたと思います。でも、BloggerにはなんでもBlogに見えるし、Search会社にはなんでもSearchに見えるのでしょう。でも、これから本格的にYahoo vs. Googleになるのは楽しみですね。

ちなみにGoogleのSergeyはGoogleがEvilにならなための担当だそうです。

伊藤譲一氏はMacにswitchだそうで。 しかしまあAppleはMac OS X 10.1にすらsecurity patchを出さないようなクソベンダーなわけですが(Mac OS X 10.2 aka Jaguarでは直ってる)。

確かに。XServeも使ってたけどやめた。でもJaguar楽しい。もうWindowsなんかさわりたくない。どうしよう。。。

BloggerのAPI 2.0が発表されました。. それにたいしてScripting NewsのDave WinerがWeblog APIを使うようにお願いする。 Movable TypeのBen Trottもコメントする。 BloggerのEvanがこのリリースは評価用のリリースだと説明する。それと基本的にポジティブなコメントが多いと報告する。 Ben TrottはSteve Jensonから評価に対するレスがあったことを報告し、セキュリティーの話をする。（BenはPERLのPGP Module等を書いていて、セキュリティーには詳しい。）
これが今のブロッグのコミュニティーのいいところ。バブル中だとすぐバナーの話とか他社に対する参入衝撃の話が多くて今のコミュニティーみたいにデータフォーマットとAPIのCompatibilityの話なんかなかなか実現できなかった。これから、ブロッグのフィーチャーが笛、競争がはげしくなっていくなか、今みたいにCooperationが続くことが重要な課題でしょう。

昨日かなさんの結婚式でした。おめでとうかなさん、としひささん。ブロッガーだらけでした。結婚ブロッグもあります。

サンフランに着きました。バラックのおかげでさっそくDangerのSidekickをGet。なかなかいいデバイスです。カメラと電話はどさくさで付けたらしいので、全然ださいけど、AOL Instant Messengerとメールは便利。それと、KeyboardはGreatです。皆もう知っていたらしいけど、メールがちゃんと日本語で出る！（僕は南に教えてもらった）びっくり！

でも、これで、アメリカからもMoblogができて嬉しいです。
